The capital of the region is Rivne, which received the city charter in 1492. The most famous city landmarks include, among others, the Saints Peter and Paul Church, the Great Synagogue from the beginnings of XIX century, the Lubomirski Family’s Conservatory in the Palace Park, the Art Nouveau House, and the Orthodox Church of the Dormition of the most Holy Virgin Mary.

The Lubelskie Voivodeship cooperates with the Rivne Region based on the Agreement on economic, trade, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation, dated 23 March 2011.

The cooperation with the Rivne Region includes mainly organising trade missions and study visits concerning regional policy, development of self-government and the implementation of projects with the use of funds from the Transborder Cooperation Programme PL-BL-UA.

The Rivne Region is situated in the western part of Ukraine, it borders Belarus (Brest Region) and the Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Lviv and Volyn Regions.

The main economic sectors of the Rivne Region include the energy, food and chemical sectors, forestry, wood and metal processing, as well as the production of construction materials.
