Cooperation based on the Agreement on cooperation between the Lubelskie Voivodeship and the Odesa Region dated 15 April 2005

The capital of the region is Odesa, whose historical centre was inscribed on the Ukrainian UNESCO List. Famous monuments include the Vorontsov Palace from the XIX century, the Potemkin Stairs (a symbolic entrance to the city), National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre from the end of XIX century, the City Concert Hall, the Vorontsov Lighthouse, the Odesa Catacombs, the XIX century synagogue and the Palace of Belina-Brzozowski.

The Lubelskie Voivodeship cooperates with the Odesa Region based on the Agreement on cooperation between the Lubelskie Voivodeship and the Odesa Region dated 15 April 2005

The agreement concerns cooperation in the field of economy, regional development, environmental protection, science and education, culture and tourism. Under cooperation, the Lubelskie and Odesa Region have implemented mainly projects on regional development (such as the project co-financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “Self-government of XXI century”), organised trade missions and also participated in various tourist events.

The Odesa Region is situated in the southern part of Ukraine, bordering Moldova and Romania, on the Black Sea.

Odesa hosts the biggest Ukrainian sea port and the biggest passenger port on the Black Sea. The main economic sector of the Odesa Region is connected with sea transport and sea resources. Important sectors also include tourism, agriculture processing, mechanical and chemical engineering.
