Cooperation based on the Agreement on cooperation between the Lubelskie Voivodeship and the Lviv region of 16 June 2004

The capital of the region is Lviv, with its historic centre inscribed on the UNESCO list in 1998. The precious monuments of the city include, among others, the Latin Cathedral, the Boim Chapel, and the Lviv Opera. The University of Lviv is over 400 years old and its beginning dates back to 1608.

The Lubelskie Voivodeship cooperates with the Lviv Region based on the Agreement between the Lubelskie Voivodeship and the Lviv Region on economic, trade, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation signed on 16th June 2004. Detailed objectives of this cooperation are also defined in the Strategy of transborder cooperation of the Lubelskie, Volyn, Lviv and Brest Regions.

The Lviv Region is situated in the western part of Ukraine, bordering the Podkarpackie and Lubelskie Voivodeships in Poland and the Volyn, Rovne, Tarnopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpatski Regions in Ukraine.

The industry of the Lviv Region is focused mainly on the extraction of hard coal, natural gas, potassium salts and sulphur. Other well-developed industries include: electromechanical, chemical, wood, cellulose-paper, construction materials, porcelain and light industries. The agriculture industry is dominated by the production of cereals, sugar beets, flax, fodder plants, horticulture, cattle and poultry breeding.
